17th Annual Golf Tournament is Hole-in-One for Cancer Center

Thirty-seven foursomes gathered on the lush fairways of Canoe Brook Country Club for the 17^th Annual Overlook Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament, May 7.  The event, sponsored by Bank of America, raised record dollars for the Cancer Center at Overlook. 

The tournament's first-ever silent auction proved to be a success among participants, raising $12,700 for items such as trips to Ireland's Adare Manor and South Carolina's Wild Dunes Resort, premier sports packages and opportunities to play at members-only clubs such as Baltusrol and Canoe Brook.   Many participants also put their short games to the test by entering a putting contest to win $10,000.  Throughout the course, there were nine hole-in-one prizes for luxury automobiles, a sailboat and $10,000 cash.  To soothe participants' aching muscles, complimentary massage therapy was offered by Holisticare.

An awards buffet dinner, sponsored by Celgene, was attended by many of the area's business and healthcare leaders and featured individual and team prizes for lowest net, lowest gross, longest drive and closest to the pin.   Dr. Peter Colucio received the Anthony F. Coppola, M.D Memorial Award for his lowest individual gross score.
